End of Tenancy Cleaning Checklist
Use this room-by-room checklist to hand your rental back in the condition the landlord expects — and give yourself the best chance of a full deposit return.
Kitchen
- Degrease oven, hob and extractor hood inside and out
- Descale sink and tap, polish chrome
- Wipe all cupboard fronts, handles and tops of units
- Empty and clean inside all cupboards and drawers
- Clean fridge and freezer interior, defrost if needed
- Descale kettle and wipe all small appliance surfaces
- Clean splashbacks and wall tiles
- Sweep and mop the floor, skirting included
Bathroom
- Descale showerhead, tiles and grout
- Remove limescale from taps and toilet bowl
- Clean toilet inside and out, including behind the pan
- Polish mirrors, glass and chrome fittings
- Wash shower screen or replace curtain
- Wipe down vanity unit and shelves
- Mop floor and clean skirting boards
Living areas & bedrooms
- Dust all surfaces, shelves and picture frames
- Wipe skirting boards, door frames and light switches
- Clean internal windows and sills
- Vacuum carpets and rugs, including edges
- Mop hard floors
- Empty and wipe bins
- Remove all personal items and rubbish
Throughout
- Cobwebs removed from ceilings and corners
- Light fittings and lampshades dusted
- Doors wiped front and back
- Keys returned and meter readings noted
